Does the base coat really change the colour that much?

Yes, more than the flake choice sometimes. The base coat shows through the gaps between the chips, so it sets the overall tone of the floor. BASALT on Lightbox Grey and BASALT on Black are the same flake and read as two different floors. We list the base coat against every blend for that reason.

Can you match a colour I already have?

Often, yes. Every solid colour here carries its RAL or Australian Standard AS2700 code, so if you have a code from a builder, an architect or another trade we can work from it directly. If you only have a physical sample, bring it to the site visit and we will tell you honestly how close we can get.

Which colours hide dirt and tyre marks best?

Flake, comfortably. The speckled pattern breaks up the surface, so scuffs, dust and small marks disappear into the busyness of it. A solid colour is a cleaner, calmer look but it shows everything, particularly in a mid grey. If the floor is going into a working garage or a workshop, flake is usually the practical answer.

Every effort has been made to reproduce each colour accurately. Actual colours may vary due to screen settings, lighting in the installation location and the texture of the finish. If colour accuracy is critical, tell us the colour you are considering and we will send photos of a completed floor in it.

The base coat changes the floor

Before the colours, the thing worth understanding: flake does not sit on top of the concrete, it sits in a coloured base coat, and the base shows through every gap between the chips. This shed went from raw slab to light grey base to teal flake, and the base is doing quiet work in the finished floor even though you never look straight at it. It is why the same blend is listed twice further down on two different bases.

Start with the room, not the chart

Almost nobody picks a floor colour off a chart and gets it right first go. A chip that looks crisp in daylight can go flat under a single fluorescent batten, and a blend that looks busy at arm length settles into a texture once it is spread across a whole floor.

So treat this page as the shortlist rather than the decision. Find two or three you keep coming back to, tell us which ones, and we will bring the samples out and put them on your slab, in your light, next to your walls and your roller door. That is the point where people usually change their mind once, and it is a lot cheaper to change it then.
